The Big Event

In April of 2015, Kristen Lindsey, a veterinarian in Austin County Texas, shot and killed a pet cat named Tiger with a bow and arrow in his head. Shortly after, she posted a photo of her holding the cat up by the arrow with a grotesque comment on Facebook. After a DVM looked at the photo, he concluded that the cat was likely still alive and suffering while the photo was being taken due to the position of the cat's limbs.

Lindsey claimed that she believed the cat to be feral, referring to him as a "tomcat", but in reality Tiger was the pet of a local elderly couple.

Investigations were launched, shortly after Lindsey's Facebook post, by Austin County as well as the Texas State Board of Veterinary Medicine on the basis of animal cruelty.  No charges were made against Lindsey due to lack of evidence, however the Texas Board of Veterinary Medicine filed its formal complaint against Lindsey in October of 2015, a motion to revoke her license to practice Veterinary Medicine that was granted.

Of course Kristen Lindsey appealed this motion with the Texas State Office of Administrative Hearings, and the court date for her appeal is March 8, 2016. She didn't stop there, however, and had been actively trying to get her case dismissed until the judge denied her motion and stated that the case will proceed as planned.

I care about cats, but dogs are still my #1. Particularly my dog.
